🎧Wyldflow3r Weekly
No Skips. Just Classics.

Every week, we go deeper than the song—into the stories, the truth, and the moments that made the culture what it is.

Here’s what went down in the Wyldflow3r universe last week.

🎙️ David Oliver – The Voice That Slipped Through

Produced by Wayne Henderson, David Oliver gave us that smooth, grown, late-70s soul that didn’t need gimmicks.

👉🏾 This is why Wyldflow3r exists—
to give overdue flowers.

🥁 The Whole Darn Family – “Seven Minutes of Funk

This isn’t just a song… it’s hip-hop DNA.

Sampled by:

  • Jay-Z

  • Dr. Dre

  • Public Enemy

👉🏾 That groove lives forever.

Late-night, smooth, and polished—quiet storm perfection.

#2 – Quincy Jones ft. James Ingram, Barry White, El DeBarge, Al B. Sure! – “Secret Garden
A layered, grown-folk anthem. Each voice tells a different love story.

🕊️ Marvin Gaye – The Album They Didn’t Want

This week we wished The Prince of Soul, Mr. Marvin Pentz Gaye a happy heavenly birthday (April 2, 1939 - April 1, 1984).

Most people know What’s Going On

But there were TWO versions.

  • Berry Gordy thought it was too political

  • Marvin refused to dilute the message

The Detroit Mix is:

  • Raw

  • Bass-heavy

  • Less polished

  • Emotionally direct

👉🏾 You can hear the room. The tension. The truth.

This album tackled:

  • War

  • Poverty

  • Police brutality

  • Environmental issues

👉🏾 It wasn’t made to entertain—it was made to wake people up.

🖤 Black-Owned Business of the Week

🌿 Bask & Lather

Bask & Lather wasn’t just created—it was necessary.

The brand was born when founder Shaina’s younger sister, Aaliyah, experienced severe hair loss from a misdiagnosed scalp condition. Her hair fell out completely, leaving a smooth scalp and real fear that it might never grow back.

So their mother did what Black mothers do—
👉🏾 she went to the kitchen and made a solution.

Using 100% natural, organic ingredients, she created:

  • A scalp oil (now the Scalp Stimulator)

  • A hair oil (now the Hair Elixir)

And it worked.

👉🏾 Aaliyah’s hair didn’t just grow back—it came back thicker and healthier.

Later, Shaina used those same remedies to restore her own hair after COVID-related shedding…
and in 2020, she launched Bask & Lather with just $400.

No investors. No shortcuts. Just results.

👉🏾 Through real storytelling and real results, the brand went viral and became one of the top Black-owned hair care brands on Amazon.

💜 The Mission

Bask & Lather is built on a scalp-first philosophy—because healthy hair starts at the root.

Their focus:

  • Nourish

  • Strengthen

  • Stimulate

Especially for Black women and children dealing with hair loss, breakage, and scalp issues.

💁🏽‍♀️ My Experience

I actually use this brand.

After my hair was damaged by the California sun ☀️
👉🏾 I needed something that would bring it back.

What I use:

  • Shampoo & Conditioner

  • Deep Conditioner

  • Curling Cream

  • Hair Elixir

  • Leave-In Conditioner

  • Stimulating Scalp & Hair Balm

  • Curling Jelly

  • Gro & Glow Vitamin

👉🏾 My hair is stronger, healthier, and finally recovering.
